Job Description:
Assistant ControllerManage the day-to-day activities to ensure
accurate and timely financial reporting both internally and
externally, including a variety of accounting, accounts payable and
consolidation operations. Policies and procedures are in place, but
they should continue to evolve over time to scale with the company
growth.Key responsibilities:Month-end close and financial
reportingPlan, direct and coordinate month-end / quarter-end /
year-end close activitiesManage the consolidation of all financial
data to ensure accurate accounting of business resultsResearch
accounting issues to ensure compliance with generally accepted
accounting principlesReview monthly account reconciliations
performed by various accountantsPerform selected account
reconciliationsAnalyze and report financial variancesPrepare
financial statements for internal reporting (e.g., Executive Team,
Board) and external reporting (year-end statutory
reports)Coordinate activities of external auditors to deliver
audited financial statements at year-endOversee regulatory
reporting, frequently including tax planning and complianceBusiness
performance managementManage cash on a daily basisMaintain and
update daily financial forecastsReview and analyze all branch
financialsPartner with the branches and other departments to
understand financial implications of various operational
processesAssist with the company's forecast and budget planning
processesProvide ad hoc assistance, analysis, and reporting as
requested by the Executive TeamFinancial systems and issue
resolutionsMaintain general ledger accounts and financial reports
in the ERP systemMaintain vendor master databaseIdentify,
investigate, and resolve system-related financial transaction
issuesHelp branch operations resolve issues related to order entry,
purchase order, inventory adjustment or system costs, etc.Work with
the ERP team to resolve any issues related to A/P and financial
transactionsPeople managementHire, train, develop and retain
skilled accounts payable and accounting staff (10+)Allocate, assign
and rebalance projects and workload for various A/P and Accounting
team members to ensure the quality of work while enabling
continuous growth of team membersContinuous improvementMaintain and
continue to evolve accounting policy and procedures to ensure that
the company's accounting, AP records and financial statements are
accurate and timelyAssess current Accounting and A/P operations,
implement improvements where appropriateEvaluate internal control
mechanism as neededEvaluating the effectiveness of accounting
software and supporting database, as neededEssential
skills:Accounting expertise and experience: must have extensive
experience with month-end close activities; previous experience as
a controller is preferredAttention to detail, strong organization
skills and the ability to multi-task are must-havesProactive and
results-oriented: ability to work efficiently to meet deadlines,
goals and objectivesIndependent thinker with strong analytical and
problem-solving skills, e.g., demonstrated ability to frame and
break down complex problems into digestible chunksPeople manager:
proven success in leading and developing teams for extended period
of timeStrong communication skills, both written and verbalCultural
fit is a must: professional and collaborative workstylePeople
skills: demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective
working relations with co-workers and others within and outside the
organizationPrevious experience using accounting software is
requiredDemonstrated comfort with and the ability to learn and
adopt new technologies, e.g., strong Excel skills, experience with
various ERP and financial applicationsQualifications:4 years
college degree in accounting or business is a mustMBA or a Master
Degree in Accounting is preferredMinimum 10 years in an accounting
positionA minimum 3 years of managing 3-5 team membersWork
