At least one year of experience with a wide array of exposure to
various types of ultrasound. - A good track record with past
employers and positive references. - Knowledge of anatomy and
pathology with the ability to recognize normal from abnormal
findings. - Basic scanning skills with a good understanding of
sonographic physics and techniques. - Clinical experience in a
hospital or acute care setting, with some exposure to general,
vascular, and OB-GYN sonography. Description: The unit consists of
four ultrasound rooms. There are 14 staff members including
sonographers and supervisors. Patient ratios are 8-10 in an 8-hour
shift. The type of equipment used includes Siemens Acuson S200 and
GE Logiq E10. EMR is Allscripts, and PACS is InteleRad. The patient
population ranges from pediatric to geriatric. Preferred or
nice-to-have qualifications include additional certifications such
as RVT, OB-GYN, and AB. Experience in the operating room and with
ultrasound procedures is also preferred. Typical procedures
performed include thoracentesis, paracentesis, fine needle
aspiration of thyroids, parotids, and lymph nodes. Other procedures
include soft tissue masses or lymph node biopsies, liver and renal
biopsies, and drainages such as abscesses, cysts, and hematomas.
Thrombin injections and breast needle placements are also
performed. Candidates should possess a hard-working attitude, be
willing to learn, and be motivated self-starters. Successful
candidates will be considerate of others and provide compassionate
patient care. They should be able to work independently as well as
part of a team and should not engage in gossip. Effective
communication with management is essential, and adherence to
departmental policies is required. This position offers
opportunities for extra shifts within the department. Candidates
interested in breast ultrasound may find additional opportunities
available. The dress code includes professional, clean, and
appropriately themed attire. Attendance and PTO request policies
must be followed, and all exam protocols need to be adhered to. No
call responsibilities are required as weekend positions cover
weekend shifts. A call tree is implemented for critical staffing
