Job Description:
Unit Description: Inpatient Rehabilitation nursing is a
different type of nursing. We are primarily coaching and educating
our patients as we care for their medical needs. We strive to help
our patient's transition back home by helping to guide, coach and
direct them to become independent in their activities of daily
living. We work very closely with PTs and OTs and MD's and we help
our patients carry out their treatments. If you like to develop
relationships with your patients and their families, and you have
patience and good people skills, inpatient rehabilitation may be
the right kind of nursing for you. We are a 35-bed Inpatient
Rehabilitation Unit located at the Fanny Allen Campus where
Fletcher Allen's Rehabilitation Center is based. We provide
team-based care, working closely with PTs, OTs, SLPs, Recreational
Therapists, MD's and Medical Psychologists. We have a wide range of
patients, including brain injuries, strokes, spinal cord injuries,
and multi-traumas or illness that requires a more intensive
Rehabilitation for patients. Our average length of stay is 13 days,
but our range is 5 to 90 days. Around 95% of our patients return
home with a small present needing to go to a SAR (Suba acute
