Job Description:

The Project Engineer (Facilities Design and Engineering) shall serve as an extension of the Project Manager overseeing the execution of facilities projects.  It is intended as a career development position, with applicants being trained to step up into a Design/Engineering Project Manager role.   Applicants will be spending time working in areas, such as; design coordination, safety, preparing cost estimates, maintaining budgets and change control.   You will work with and under the supervision of a Project Manager (Engineering design) and with other Project Engineers on all assigned duties, in the planning of various design-build projects.   You will be trained to support client design projects and Project Managers, ultimately to move into that role/title in the future.   Ideally, this person will want to gain experience in the ground up design of industrial structures for manufacturing, distribution, cold storage, Pharma and/or food process facilities. You will have some management responsibility for any assigned design activities from concept through completion.  

            

Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Project Manager in developing the Project Management Plan (PMP).
  • Assist the Project Manager in communication of the project scope, schedule, and budget.
  • This position includes management responsibility for any assigned design activities from concept through completion.  This may include; preparing cost estimates, maintaining budgets, change control, and design coordination.
  • Facilitate construction support services.  Address submittals, RFI’s, change order requests, issue bulletins, etc.
  • Reviews plans and specifications for compliance with owner’s needs, develops bid packages, and responds to requests for information.
  • Provide the Project Manager with project status updates (budget, percent complete, issues, out of scope work, etc.).
  • Attend Client meetings with the Project Manager.
  • Prepare and issue project documentation such as meeting minutes, schedules, action item lists, etc.
  • Provide support for any tasks required for the successful completion of the project
  • Serve as the clearinghouse to address project related questions/issues from the team
  • Disseminate project changes and updates from the Project Manager
  • Serve as a secondary point of contact for the Client

Requirements:

  • BS Engineering or Architecture or related 4 yr technical degree
  • Minimum of 2 – 4+ years’ experience in design, field engineering or construction.
  • Working experience with AutoCAD
  • Assist the Project Manager in developing the Project Management Plan (PMP).
  • Assist the Project Manager in communication of the project scope, schedule, and budget.
  • This position includes management responsibility for any assigned design activities from concept through completion.
  • This may include; preparing cost estimates, maintaining budgets, change control, and design coordination.

  • Travel:  Flexibility for travel is required. Travel is on a sporadic basis to support design, construction, and start-up activities.  The majority of this travel will be regional and to project sites, and to collaborate with design professionals in other offices, for training and other purposes.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Ability to function comfortably, gain trust, con?dence and deal effectively with a wide range of individuals including consultants, contractors, clients, code officials and DGFS project team
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills working within a technical environment
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced design environment
  • P.E. licensure or Registered E.I.T. is desired if coming from an engineering design role.

Relocation: We are looking for Candidates local to the area. Some relocation assistance is available for the highly qualified applicant.

Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Engineering, Architecture or related 4 yr. engineering or technical degree required.
