Working with customers to ensure our products and systems provide maximum performance, our Service teams solve a wide variety of key industrial challenges. We increase productivity and reliability, lengthen product life span, and improve safety. Critically, we also reduce costs, energy consumption and emissions. We currently have a Service Technician role open in our Northeast region. This role will be 100% remote with overnight travel to customer sites in a regional area. Periodic travel may be required outside of the geographic region. A company car is provided for customer site travel. This role can be in any of the following states: Connecticut, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Vermont or upstate New York.



Your responsibilities



* The Service Technician DC Power Level IV will be working on circuit modifications, power transition operations, addition, and removal of circuits on working power distribution sources, power system equipment test and turn up, overseeing volatile work activities and performing Site Supervisors responsibilities on a job site

* Generates revenue by planning and executing sales transactions which address and provide product/applications solutions to complex business issues

* Perform work operations on working equipment or circuits without direct supervision by a Site Supervisor

* DC Controller Software adds or upgrades. DC Power transition work (cut over)

* Addition or removal of telecom batteries. Addition or removal of circuits on working power distribution sources

* Perform equipment testing and turn up

* Oversees volatile work activities inside energized equipment

* Additions, removals, wiring connections and modifications on working equipment and circuits

* Addition or removal of common systems equipment/hardware

* Addition or removal of wiring and connections on non working equipment only

* Lead verification (voltage)

* Analysis of job specifications and Engineering drawings

* Resolve job specifications and/or Engineering drawing problems



Your background



* High School Diploma/GED and six (6) years DC power equipment installation

* Computer skills including Microsoft Outlook / Excel / Word

* A valid driver's license

* Ability and willingness to travel approximately up to 75% and willingness to work different shifts (swing shifts)

* Electrical degree, certificate or apprenticeship preferred

* AC Electrical experience

* Strong customer service mindset

* Prior field engineering experience

* Strong verbal and written communication skills

* Candidates must already have a work authorization that would permit them to work for ABB in the US

* Physical Requirements: Ability to lift at least 40 lbs

* Ability to operate motorized lift equipment to maneuver, install or remove 80-750 lb batteries

* Frequently pushing or pulling of cables up to 60 lbs

* Frequently climbing ladders up to 8 ft

* Frequently working/standing on ladders for long periods of time

* Continuous standing

* Frequently reaching above, below or at shoulder level

* Frequently bending, twisting or stooping

* Frequently crouching or squatting

* Be exposed to varying environments with moderate noise levels, nominal variations in heat and cold
